If you need to have a new sewer line or septic tank installed, you should call a drainage contractor, especially for a septic tank, since you need to have a drainage field around the septic tank. The contractor can check the soil around the potential septic area and make sure that it can drain the water from the septic tank at an acceptable rate without having to be amended. 

Plumbers and drainage contractors are both important. They each have their focus, but their job will be a lot more complicated without their counterpart. Knowing the difference between a plumber and a drainage contractor and when you should call each one will help you get the right service for your problem. Calling the right person the first time will mean that you are able to get your problem solved faster.
