Three Things You Can Do to Keep Your Apartment Complex’s Community Park Nice Without a Lot of Maintenance

Are you tired of wasting time and manpower on keeping your apartment complex's community park in good condition? Here are a few things you can do to keep that park nice over time without having to worry about a lot of maintenance:

Post Rule Signs

If you haven't already, it is important to post clear signs that list all the rules you would like your residents to follow while spending time in your community park. Work with a lawyer to create rules that do not infringe on your residents' rights but that also help protect your park so you don't have to spend a lot of time on maintenance throughout the year. Instead of focusing on how people should act at the park, focus your rules on how people should leave the park when they're done using it.

Make sure that your residents know that they are responsible for their own cleanup and that parents are expected to supervise kids while they're playing at the park. Have your signs printed on metal signs or vinyl banners and hang them in at least two different places in your community park.

Make Cleanup Easy

Make it easy for your residents to clean up after themselves when leaving your community park, then your staff members won't have to spend a lot of time cleaning the area up themselves. This will allow them to focus their efforts on other important tasks throughout your apartment complex. Make sure the following are available at your community park:

  • A public restroom (portable ones are fine)

  • Several garbage cans

  • Water spigots

  • A metal sink and faucet

These things will help ensure that your community park is left in good condition, even after families have parties and residents have community get-togethers.

Install Some Artificial Turf

Keeping the grass in your community park green and cut can be very time consuming for your staff members. Plus, when the grass gets brown, your park won't feel as inviting to your residents. To ensure that your community park stays looking fresh and inviting throughout the year, it's a good idea to get rid of the real grass and install some artificial turf instead.

The turf can be installed over rubber padding to create a safe play area for resident children, and the turf won't need any special maintenance or care to keep it looking good as time goes on. Plus, you can expect to save yourself some money on things like gas for the lawnmower, fertilizer, and grass seeds.
